Hello guys

Any idea what are the best brake pads to go for on my 528i sport 2000?

Not too fussed about ultimate performance - just want some decent OE pads for a reasonable price.

Thanks 4 any advice.

I personally like the PBR/AXXIS in either deluxe (organic) or Meltal Master (semi-metallic). Good stopping power, long life, almost no brake dust, and inexpensive.

I liked my OEM pads' performance, but hated the dust.

I replaced all four brakes pads and rotors. I used Axxis Deluxe Plus pads and Brembo non-slotted OEM-type rotors. I couldn't be happier!! My wheels are at least as clean after 2 weeks as they used to be after only 2 days!! Best of all is that performance feels exactly as before, wet or dry.

I got the pads from Dave Zeckhausen of Zeckhausen Racing (zeckhausen.com) for about $74/front set and about $28/rear set. Dave is awesome and freely shares his considerable knowledge. But he doesn't carry rotors, sooo....

I got the rotors, all 4 for my 540, shipped to my door, for $194 from getcoolparts.com. I found getcoolparts consistently good to work with.

That's my wholehearted recommendation. If I had to do it over, I might have more seriously considered rotors with plated hubs (more $$), because these Brembos have begun to develop that skin of rust, which is no different from the old OEM rotors, but looks so much worse than when they were brand new and the hubs were shiny (you can see them thru the Style 32 wheels). I ended up sanding them and painting them black with BBQ grill hi-temp black...

I am lucky to have a BAP-GEON parts place near me and I paid about $45.00 for the front AXXIS pads on my E32 (750) and about $50.00 for the BREMBO solid rotors.
