I have a sporatic problem whereby the engine drops power and the "Check Engine Light" goes on. I have replaced the O2 sensor and catalytic converter. I would like to get the diagnostic readout from the dash but it doesn't seem to work. I stomp on the ges pedal after turning the sw to on but nothing happens. Any ideas on what I am doing wrong.
Concerning the original problem, once I pull the car off the road and shut it down, I wait for 10 minutes and then the car will go for 2-4 miles before the same problem happens.
codereaders are usually for obdII cars 96' and up. i dont think there were codereaders for older model bmws. the stomp gas pedal works for my 92 325i you have to put the key in the run position and within like 3 seconds stomp the gas pedal to the floor, and let go 5 times

Thanks for the reply!!! Fyi prior to 95 there is a special code reader for the older BMW's. I am going to buy one however it seems that the diagnotics are somewhat limited. When I first had this problem I took it to a dealer (I needed it fixed quick) and they read a code 10 meaning injector 1,3,or 5, they replaced a vacum hose and said it was fixed, however it wasn't.

By the way I'm going to try the 3 second time limit, I hope it works.
