I drove my car in D1 for 5 seconds and the car stopped automatically. The check engine light on and all the gears became neutral (P D N D3 D2 D1). I need to know what went wrong and how to fix it. My car has only 75k miles on it and I don't think that the transmission is out. Please advise.

What do you mean by "they became neutral"?

Does the display on the instrument cluster say N in all gears? The tranny is a seperate (unit wise) mechanical peice, so something like this shouldnt really happen unless the tranny was out.

Usually when a tranny dies or a seal completely blows (like a few of our past cars) this happes. It just revs, but wont go anywhere. We've never had a check engine light go out though - and our gear indicator always said the gear we were in.

Maybe someone else could be of some better help.

good luck.
