Well, it all depends on how you view your car...as an investment or as something to put little boy grins on your face. For me, it's the latter...which is why I've had no problem putting over $50K in mods in my E39 which is now probably worth around $10K un-modded.
Then there's the E38...my mechanic put over $100K in mods into that.
