I bought a BMW, E39, 525I from 2003 wirh automatic transmission and I have a big problem with it. While running, when reachs the speed of 45-50miles/h, the rpm indicator start to waver between 1500-1800rpm, 1700-2200rpm…2000-1500 and so on. It goes up and down till it reach the speed of 55miles/, after that everything goes fine. In the moment that the rpm indicator start to oscillate, you can also feel some vibes and a “woove” sound…This happens just when the car is in D mode. If you put it in Sport mode or steptronic, nothig happens and it runns perfectly.
I really need an advise….Can you help me, please? Thank you
hello, no engine light. I scan the car with snap-on :227-O2 bank 1 control deviation,239-miss fire 2, 228 O2 bank 2...., 238-miss fire 1,82-rotation rate sensor circuit,F5-can data error from DME/DDE, and yes I feel the engine go up and down not just the rpm. thank you
Wouldnt wory to much about o2 sensor codes but that funky rotation sensor sensorand that can error sound serious i dodnt now much about the codes ,ill find out what i can ill get back to you
I am not a professional. This is just my opinion. I could be wrong.
To me it sounds like you have a slipping clutch pack. Or possibly a TCC (tourque converter clutch) slipping.
I would guess your overdrive clutch pack is slipping since it is only affecting 4th gear. Check your tranny fluid level and perform a stall test. During the stall test put the car in neutral to see if the sound stops a (this will tell you if it's the trans pump or not).
