 BMW E39 2002 530i Auto-Tranny probs???
Hi all,
I was wondering if you guys think this is suspisios or not. I am looking to buy a 530i 2002, it has just under 35000mi. Very low and it is a decent price, not good just fair. But when I was looking at the service records about 3 months ago he took it in complaining about "Hard shifting" from 2nd to 3rd gear. This is an automatic tranny, I was wondering if there are possible problems with the E39 auto tranny's? When I asked him about this, he said that his friends work at the BMW service bay and they gave him a list of things to complain about before the 4-48000 warrenty exprires so that they would change some stuff on the car. It showed in the records that they did not find a problem but did change the programming logic chip. This was also done for the engine and some other minor things were changed. Should I be worried? Is there anything in the test drive, other then the obvious, that would shed light on this issue? Should I run, and run fast? I would appreciate all your opinions on this issue.
