Hi i have a brilliant 520se but it does have its downfalls with problems.
Sometimes when i accelorate my power seems to bog down and jerk as if its not sucking in the fuel.Ive checked all major and obvious things under the hood and around the car but nothing comes to my eye that comes to fault.
Im running out of ideas on what to look at.Has any one got near same problem with any ideas?

Biggest problem with these cars are vac leaks--with regards to power. You can have a small vacuum hose leak and not have a code or check engine light come on and you'll play hell trying to find it. One of the greatest mods though for our cars is the new Vanos seals that have been out now for a little over a year--change these seals out and the car will run better than new.
ive had my car put on the computers and it picks up nothing. ive gone through the obvious. can you explain in more detail about the vanos seals so i can check mine and go further in to replaceing them. thanx
What year is your car--if it's after 1999 then it has the double Vanos and not as hard to change as the single system is. With the double system you don't have to have all the special BMW tooling to do the job. I was one of the first to make the change over to the new product that Ragaie brought to us. Main thing to remember is that these seals help control the engine timing and when they aren't working properly the timeing would not be in spec. The BMW seals have been shown to be worn out in as little as 10k miles.
My new Besian seals have been in my car for over 50k miles and the car is running strong. As soon as I turn the key she fires right up and purrs--before the car would sit and shake when cold. The above link that was posted to Besians --also has a link to the double Vanos procedure---if you decide to try this--Besian is the company where you order the product. Stay away from the BMW company on this--they will only replace bad seals with new bad seals. Hope that helps
