Hey guys, my neighbor decided to sell his 88 535i, my father and i took it for a test drive today it sounded pretty good, only major problem that needs attention is the muffler, but before we commit to buying it we want to have it checked out, so i was wondering if anyone could reccomend any good shops around the Seattle area, thanks.

$ 1000???? is he crazy? WAit a min....is he talking abt the whole exhaust system or something or just the muffler??
I got my muffler replace from the BMW dealer (I meant to say BMW dealer when i said dealer) for $550.
If you go to local muffler shop, you would prolly get it done for ~$300-350.
Aftermarket is always cheap. A friend of mine got his muffler changed on his camry for $80 (aftermarket of course). I know, can you believe it.
Well BMW parts are always expensive, but still $1000 for muffler?? thatz a rip-off.
Yea lol, when you initially said 550 i thought that's how much the dealer was selling the car for.. made me wonder for a second lol, yea dude when i said 1000 i meant the whole car i can get a new exhaust for about 300. i just need to have someone check the car out to make sure it's good.. engine sounded great, clutch was in great condition interior was a lil beat up but hey it's a 16 year old car . i was estatic when i found out it was a manual aern't many manual 535's around.
