Bmw 530d e39 dss light on and wont start

My bmw 530d e39 year 2000 with 100k on the clock as just cut out while traveling home . the systoms i have are the glowplug light stays on with the DSS light on to ,ive checked at the fuel filter and no fuel comes through , i have a tank full of fuel ,ive tried disconnecting the battery and reconnecting no difference apart from now my radio wont work.Any help would gratefully be received .

I'm beginning to think i should get a peugeot 307 ,my last one did 160k and no problems and was has cheap as chips , ive spent a fortune £38K on this bmw which now has had 3 wiring looms/ broken rear suspension /twice injecotors packing up/ air bag light always coming on /front suspension collapsing ,and numerous batteries.

No fun. Have the fuel pumps been checked?

No but i can hear what sounds like the pump running when i put the ignition on .
