The bluetooth option for cellular phones seems to have been delayed once again. I was told it would be available in Q4, but as of a phone call to BMW last week, there is no ETA date.
As you can imagine, driving a stickshift and using the mobile phone is not a particularly seamless or safe operation. Bluetooth has been available in Europe and the Middle East for months so I do not understand what the problem could be, but I'm quite sure there is a problem...
Anybody have any information about bluetooth availability in the US?
If you have Bluetooth integrated with iDrive in your 745iL, it's all the more confounding that BMW seems to have dropped the ball with the E60. Because of safety concerns, I replaced my 5 year old mobile phone today with a new Motorola model that is similar to the V600 and includes Bluetooth. I purchased a Motorola HS820 Bluetooth headphone to use in the car. Admittedly this is not as seamless a solution as iDrive integration, but it is much safer and performs exceptionally well! I can leave the phone itself in the briefcase and just slip on the headphone and answer calls from the multifunction button on the headphone.
