The dreaded blown head gasket has happened . Which leaves me in a quandary when the car is worth as little as £1000

How much can I expect to pay for this?

Roughly how much labour is involved ignoring the skim?

Cheers
Dave

There was no oil in the water, just plumes of steam in the exhaust and using coolant

Got it fixed now thankfully, needed a thermostat too

Now, just the lighting module, the front shox and some tyres

Cheers

how many hours in labour did it run you? just to share with the other members so if it happens to them they can see it for themselves.

Hi again

I have been very very very fortunate, a friend of a friend who happens to work for BMW did it for me in his own time and charged me considerably less than BMW, or a private garage would have done for doing it - as such I felt it would be a bit cheeky to ask how many hours he spent in case he took it the wrong way

Parts - gasket set, antifreeze, etc (needed a thermostat too) came to £130-£140

Cheers

Dave
