Yes (but it's not true as far as I know). I'm not even aware that it's in digital format for downloading from anyone. Can I help? I do have a complete copy as well as Tiff & ETK. The Bently manual does NOT cover diesel engines unfortunately presumably because BMW don't believe enough North Americans are interested in saving the world, using less resources etc. etc. (Please don't think I'm biased--I simply wouldn't think of driving anything else:-):-))

david, I appreciate the offer.

i was looking for the download just for information right now, luckily I am OK with the car right now.

I just had an exhaust problem, was facing a $1400 new exhaust system and thanks to this forum, Matt was able to post pictures of the e39 exhaust system, which allowed me to determine what exactly was wrong, and avoid the $1400 repair !!!

ditto------had to replace the four cats on my 530TD as a result of an expensive mistake made by my "friend" who pourded in gasoline instead of diesel!! Not cheap so I understand your concerns.
