I am experiencing a recent problem where the auto gearbox will jump out of D momentarily. I notice this as the engine will suddenly increase in RPMs (because my foot is on the accelerator) and then go back down to the orginal speed. Now when this happens the gearbox will go into "limp home" mode (stuck in 3rd gear). I figure this is because the computer is wondering that something is wrong and then puts it into "limp home" mode. If I stop and restart the car the computer resets and the gearbox changes fine.
Is there a way to adjust the linkage, as I can nudge the gear lever into N too easily?
