Aussie spec E34 530i Build Up

Hi all,

I thought i'd start a project thread on my E34 as I have a few small plans for it and I have transferred the pics from my introduction thread.

I picked up an E34 1995 530i 3.0ltr V8 which was in a state of disrepair... It had a cooked motor due to a blown radiator. After a bit of poking and proding at the engine I tracked down a low kay Japanese Import motor with warranty and replaced all the gaskets and seals etc, ripped the old half dismantled donk out and chucked the new one in.... along with a new radiator and hoses etc...

I've been driving it for the last 6 months or so and have put about 10thou klms on it without missing a beat...

Now it's time for some mods....

I purchased a set of 19x9 Binno's (Lenso replicas) and have a set of new 19x8.5 and 19x9.5" ANZ rims on order...

It sat in this driveway for near on two years like this!

It wasn't driveable so it was winched onto the trailer backwards. Not the most desireable way to tow a heavy car but MEH...

The interior is pretty mint for it's age and the fact that it had been sitting in the weather for a couple of years. Pic is prior to me cleaning it up..

This is how I picked it up...

Big jigsaw puzzle

Replacement Donk! Thought about throwing a 4.0ltr in but couldn't get enough info on doing the swap to risk it.

Old one out and new one in.

I bead blasted and re-painted the rocker covers as they looked like crap

Came up alright after a wash.. Still needs a good buff though.

Pulled all the bumper mouldings off as they had been painted Oxford Green and it was cracking and peeling and gave them a bead blast and a coat of satin black. Gratuitous shot with the Camaro in the background!!

Then it was time for wheels... and I found these which I thought looked like they would suit the style of the 530 without being to over the top..

They are 19x8.5 and 19x9.5. Commonwhore offset, so I will run 20-25mm bolton spacers to compensate. These are on order and should be on sometime in Feb.

I was also offered these rims a month or so ago but wasn't keen on the price he was chasing so knocked them back but kept an eye on them... The seller got desperate and came down to my level 19x9" Binnos

Would look nice if they were tucked up hard!!

By the way... this is just my daily, so I don't want it off the road for lengthy periods of time.. However I do have a few ideas in mind and one of those involves a bit of vinyl rapping

Essentially I would love the front end to look similar to this, utilising the same/similar lower lip...

In this colour of course and with the cutout eyebrows....

I found the chin spoiler here and it can be purchased in Carbon Fibre BMW E34 '89-'95 Lip And Splitter Fiberglass Body kit - eBay (item 260728217942 end time Feb-05-11 17:01:50 PST)

Clear indicators are on the list (I already have clear side indicators), was thinking about Angle Eyes but I'm not entirely sold on them... A noce sounding exhaust system, probably just twin 2.5" from cat back to start with, a pod filter with shielding and ducting.

The back seat has had something spilt on it in one spot and the dye has discoloured so I will need to re-dye the base, give the whole car a buff and general tidy up.

I ordered the first set of spacers which are hub centric 5x120x20mm allround to start with and they should arrive either today or tomorrow.

Here are a couple more crappy iPhone pics of the Barge...

More pics:

Exhaust is done and it now sounds like a V8.... Just needs to have a couple of tweaks. Went for a twin 2.25" Mandrel Bent system with a straight through muffler.

Rimage is on.... and the rear will get lowered along with new front springs next Thursday...

More pics and a quick video...

Put the 245's I had on the front onto the 9.5" rims on the rear for that slight stretch look and a pair of new 235's on the fronts.

Also gave her a wash and fitted a pair of LED parker lights to the front...

Ordered clear front kidney indicators tonight, along with a new set of door handle gaskets...

Latest updates are as follows:

Clear indicators fitted this evening...just need to get some orange bulbs now... Front end looks much cleaner now. Amazing how such a simple modification can make such a difference.....
Before

After

Slapped on one of the BCI stickers that Pazza from BCI supplied....

Grabbed a bit of Carbon Vinyl off my mate and made up some replacements to cover the blue on the badges.. Not the best pics but you get the idea..

Looks like the real deal...

And dropped off the VOLVO lip to have the paint removed from it and small tear repaired.

And a couple of pics from the local BCI club cruise

I'm in Perth...

The clear indicators came from eBay. There is an Aussie seller called CARSRUS that I got them through.

A couple of pics I took on the way to work last night on my iPhone...

and one i played with...

Update for today... Rubbed back the OVLOV spoiler I picked up and prepped it a bit... Temporarily fitted it up then drilled the pilot holes etc... Marked it for length and cut it to suit....

Redrilled the holes to the correct size and fitted it up... Gave it a wipe over and whalla!! I'm now spoilered!!

Temporary fitup pics...

Completed and secured pics...

The lip looks good, what did that come off?
Also I got a clear indicator package (rear front and side) off some bloke on eBay. Shipped from the states all up AU$180. The guy at carsrus quoted me $310 to ship from Melbourne.

Sounds like a good deal!!

I was only after the front and side clear indicators which cost me $55ish delivered. Had an issue with the left indicator quality, called them and they sent another pair straight out. Good service... Glad I purchased from an Aussie retailer.

The chin spoiler or Lip, is from an Aussie spec VOLVO 940 from the Nineties...

There is a little bit of trimming and drilling required but it is a reasonably straight forward fit up. It is fitted upside down from how VOLVO have it fitted to the 940.

Oh ok , So that would explin the term OVLOV. So is it just a coincidence that it fits ? Give or take a few minor adjustments.
