I recently purchased a very sexy 1994 540i. on the center console on that little tranny switch, instead of having a "S" for sport setting, it has a snowflake. I have been in probobly a dozen beemrs and owned older ones in the past, and i have never seen this before. they all have the sport, manual, and economy setting. since mine has a snoflake image, does that mean it has the winter package on it? i noticed my shift points are changed to a lower rpm as well (auto transmission). see attached images.

Also, the front lip looks aftermarket too. if im not mistaken, is it a M5 front lip? i have seen it on the e34 m5's and not on the stock 540i's
I'd have to assume the snow flake is for driving in icy/snowy conditions. I wouldnt have a clue as to whether or not how to tell if it has the winter package...

on one of my spare keys on the dealer tag it says 540ia. but i went to that one website where u can check the background of the car with the VIN number and its just a regular 540i
Thats what i figured. too bad i will never need it.
in second gear locked, what happens if i redline the engine? will it blow up like a normal car or will the EMS automatically shift it up for you once the engine has reached its rpm limit.
It won't shift up, unless you shift it yourself. It wont really 'blow up' either if you just redline it/bounce of the limiter a time or 2, as long as you're not bouncing extensively.
i should prolly start a new thread....but is Dinan the only company that makes superchargers for the E34? its $9,000 and i was wondering if there was a supercharger out there for half the money for the e34.
