I think you just witnessed what All BMW'S with slip control systems do. They have 4 wheel speed sensors which monitor each wheels speed of rotation with a high accuracy. The system control unit uses this information to calculate a vehicle speed. In this way it detects wheel speed variation. A common problem : If the inputs vary from each other by a certain amount, the control unit is not able to do the calculation reliably (plausibility fault) and takes its self off-line as a safety precaution(fail-safe).This can be because the wheels and tires are non-approved partsand therefore do not agree with the system.SOLUTION: Make sure the vehicle is fitted with BMW approved wheels and tires. Then do further diagnostic testing to check if fault is resolved.
In sum: it is a normal reaction on gravel and slippery roads providing you have the proper tires and wheels.
d3ity,
In your case no need to worry... It's only telling you that the
system is actively regulating drive torque in response to the driving
conditions.... If it stays on all the time, then you have a problem.
open the drivers door look to the right for a black sticker with silver lettering on or open your manual on page.........wooooooo come on d3ity you know better than that.
regards
