I just bought a set for 500 brand new for my 97 540. They are the SS I think. Bronze body with Black springs. Anyway adjustable from 1.5 to 3. I want to slam it so that should take care of that issue. But I was wondering about their life. Oh yeah and does anyone know if I have to use the top shock mounts from a 528?
You are going to need some sort of upper camber/caster plate to work with the coil-over type spring because the stock upper spring hat will not work on a 2.5"/60mm coil-over spring. Also, if you use a coil-over setup on stock struts don't expect them to last more than a month or two before the seals give out. You will need some sort of sport strut designed for cars lowered more than 1" like Koni SA's or Bilstein Sports. Once the car is lowered it will need an alignment because the toe settings will be way off and cause the tires to wear unevenly.
