I know this is probably a stupid question before I even ask it but...

Is there any way that M3 wheels (18's) will fit on my 97 540ia?

Like these...

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAP...7938480980&rd=1

thanks in advance,

If I remember right, 5er and 3er have different offset or something, so basically no, they wont fit...

if you want my opinion, either get the 7 series sport wheels (yes they will fit 5er) or get rims like mine BBS ASA AR1's. Go to tirerack.com to check out some different rims...

Slvr is correct.

The offset is wrong.
A 20mm wheel spacer would make them fit without rubbing issues, but some consider that to be unsafe since you would need longer lug studs to go through the wheel, spacer, and into the hub. Stick with a 5er wheel.

Btw - you have a 5 x 120mm +20mm offset - thats what you need

If you really want M3 rims on your e39 there are replicas out there which are made to fit.
