1988 528e with ~170K miles. Engine has always run fine, starts everytime.
4 times in the last month while at cruising speed (~65mph), on highway,
no acceleration/load, variety of outside temperatures, I lose power.
It is as if it wants to stall. Usually drops to about 1K rpm despite the
accelerator to the floor. Anti-Lock light comes on. Within ~30sec I can
again accelerate and it seems to run normal accept: 1) Anti-Lock light
remains on, 2) seems a little less responsive on acceleration.
After I park for a few hours the Anti-Lock light will be off when I restart car.
I don't think it is a stuck rotar. I don't detect any drag on any of the wheels.
Other times, car runs fine --- except just the last week it has run rough
and stalled while idling a few times (never in the past) and I think I detect
a whine from the rear passenger side.
Questions:
1) How are the "Anti-Lock" electronics and acceleration related?
2) Does this sound like a supply problem? Pump going out?
3) Probably not a filter problems since periodic?

Do you have ASC light (yellowish/amber triangel) or button in console? If so they are VERY related since its job is to cut on the throttle ONLY when you loose traction.

Please excuse my ignorance but what/where is "ASC light"? The Anti-Lock
indicator is a yellow square with the word "ANTI-LOCK" (but I don't think
this is what you mean).
