Am I being ripped off?

I recently was told I might have a blown head gasket in my 1993 525i wagon. The shop I had been taking it to said that the high end quote would be $3000 and didn't give me a low end quote at all. He then told me he would take it off my hands for $500-600 and thats all I could get for a trade in value on my car. Is this true?

It sounds kind of high, another werkz member just got a quote for $1,900 on a newer 5 series. Here is that thread......

p.s. be wary!!! sometimes shops will tell you one thing & in reality, it really could be something else......they high ball you, to scare you into handed your car over to them..... does this place sell used cars also? This is why you should get a 2nd & a 3rd diagnosis from an reputable BMW shop.....
