Well done, site: Great graphics and layout.

I'm new to the board and fairly new to Bimmer ownership too.
I bought my 1997, 540i with 141K miles on it from a friend who was the single owner.. It's been a rather remarkable car for the $5,500 I paid for it. My other cars, a brand new 2009 Suburu Legacy and 2008 Hyundai Veracruz are hard to get excited about after having this a few weeks.

I may be only getting about 70% of the power this car is capable of. I changed the plugs, and found the valve cover gaskets to be leaking.
The other problem was burnt out lights on the instrument cluster which I was able to fix. The headlights were dull and foggy, but I've got those looking pretty nice now.

Cosmetically, the two big issues are:

1. Pitted windshield.
2. The common pitting on front of hood.

I've been told the windshield might benefit from claying. Has anyone done this?

How much would a good hood paint job cost?

Just two questions, how you managed to fix your instrument cluster & the foggy headlights?

I have fixed a lot of problems over the last few months on my 530-2002 but still suffering with those two problems. My car is now 340,000 KM.
