Alarm & Keyless Entry

Greetings from Portugal.

My car is an E34, 520i, european, of 1994.The alarm/keyless
entry is the DWA, not the Alpine, with the fat key remote IR
transmitter. Neither the alarm, nor the keyless entry are working.
Checked all fuses and the fuseable link. Have two keys,
one of them brand new. Batteries are OK.

Recently, I read the BMW Service-Information Bulletin no. 66 01 93 (3921) of December 1993 which, in principle, applies to the 540i; 8 Series (E31). However, since my system is also the DWA IV, I would very much appreciate your answers to the following questions:

1- Is the doctrine of the above document also applicable to my car?

2- Is really the arming/disarming of the alarm by means of the master key in the door lock NOT possible?

3- How to know if an initialization block of the key transmitters is active, without access to the BMW Service Tester?

Thanking you in advance for your kind attention.

Best regards,
António

there should be an instruction manual for the DWA system. it should tell you how to reset the system or do diagnostics on it. i had a the similar problem with my alpine system, and it was located under the back seat. i reseted the system and the crystals inside each remote and it worked fine for me.
