Air Condition Leak - E39 - BMW Forum

Hey,
I have a 2001 BMW 520i and well a couple of months ago the air condition has been letting in fumes from outside. I have the recirculate button on but it still leaks. I took it to the garage but they didnt find any leaks. Its an AAR air condition system by the way. ANy of you ever had a problem like this??

I am assuming "letting in fumes from outside" through your vents. Correct? If so how come this gets translated into a leak? Mechanic did not find any? Need more than that...........

Well they are not giving a lot of information. they tested it on the machine and it read that all systems were functioning properly. they took of the whole dash and checked the flaps but found no leak as they function properly as well. so im not sure at all whats the problem,

I would be looking at the activated charcoal cabin filters. Chances are they are clogged with dirt. The charcoal filters out the fumes and odors.
