Guys, the compressor on my 98 528 sport is making a clicking noise. I took it in and was told that my compressor was going out and was quoted $1200 for the repair. Should I let the dealer repair it or is there a better/cheaper way to take care of this problem? Open to any and all suggestions!
Also you may want to consider a used one from a wreck. I got a whole engine came out of 99/528I with 43.000 miles on it. Real cheap and works perfect.
regards

Before you replace the A/C comp - check the idler pulleys and tensioners. Unless the car has 150K + the A/C unit is pretty stable. The idler pullys and tensioners are suspect after 70K.
