Abs/traction Control Light

Hello, 2000, 528I. My ABS and traction control light came on yesterday and I believe that both of these functions has ceased to work on my car. Could this be fuse related or something more serious. If you have experienced this, how did you solve the problem and what was the culprit.
Thank you for any information you can supply. :-)
