Hi, my ABS (DSC from 2001 525i) function failed.
engine light, traction light and ABS light are up
computer can't connect to ABS (but connecting to Engine well)
1. do I still need to have to doubt of whether the speed sensor, or the module is the problem?
2. when tryinng to get an used ABS module, the recycling yard rep said that the number (mine is 3451-6755-739) has to match his otherwise it won't work. and no flash can make his part work with my car main computer. this is conflict with other people's saying. can you help to clarify?
3. I am in Toronto, Canada. anyone knows a decent and inexpensive place to REPAIR my ABS module? I don't want to ship it across boarder or even across canada if possible at all.
4. or who can sell me your used one provided no.2 can work.
more details on how it failed compeletly:
one day I felt a "click" on the brake pedal and ABS light lit. in the following days I could feel the ABS kicks in when not necessary (brakes for no reason).
later on ABS lights come and go, sometimes after driving for 10 min, sometimes right after start. I put a aluminum bake plate in between the ABS module and the Engine, for a day or two I though it worked but not really.
then ABS, traction, engine light would lit solid all the time, but the brake light come and go. when the brake light is lit, the speedometer can work. when the brake light is off, the speedometer fail.
then after a while, brake light never lit up, hence speedometer never worked again
this car then sometimes stalls during driving, say 3-4 time in the past 4 months. restart can solve it temprarily. not a huge deal yet, but is it related to ABS issue?
