sounds like possibly either a instrument (KOMBI) malfunction (replace it) or a faulty output speed sensor inside the transmission. Oddly enough it could also be a abs control unit.

I have the same problem this week. I pulled the Right rear ABS wheel speed sensor since it is the one that controls the speedo. It had a dirty oily buildup on the sensor tip. I cleaned and re-installed but all the lights are still on. Do I need to go to the Dealer or buy a tool to check/ reset the ABS and brake warning codes?
I am lost as to what to check next. Any ideas??
Thanks, SHane
Surely this has to be a cluster problem behind the dash...........or replace the entire speedo and tach instrument panel etc...........what a bastard !
All the best getting it sorted.
Chers.
