i have a 98 528iA i have owned since it was new. i been thinkin about getting a tranny swap because i made a mistake of buyin an Auto. I been researching about this project and i know when u guys read this u all r goin to tell me to sell the car a get a stick instead but im keepin this car 4 ever and i been taking good care of it because i only drive it 3 times a week. i was wondering if i could fit an M3 6-speed tranny (wut driveshaft do i need?) if i can i just want a 5-speed. i have made a list of all the parts i need. Could you guys tell me wut parts i need and do they make a conversion kit? i know i have to get the ecu recoded (is it the engine ecu or tranny ecu?)

no please? no thank you? pssshhhhhh
Sell the car, buy a stick. Everybody says it for a reason.
I don't know if you realize it but unless your VERY mechanically inclined, this project will only cost a LITTLE less than what your car is actually worth. I'm willing to bet if you sold your car and added as much money as this project would cost, you could get a MUCH NICER example of a 528 (and newer) with a stick.
all the young'ns say they're keeping their car forever. ha!
