Thumbs up

Guys I need huge help...

I was hanging out in my car and came home to get ready to keep hanging out, so the car was running perfectly fine... Anyways.....I have a 1997 528i and my only keys had the button that locks and unlocks the doors kind of pushed in. I took apart the keys to fix the button, which i did. But the problem now is that the keys unlocks and locks the car, but when i put the keys in the ignition and turn it, the car won't start WHYYYYYYYY?

Again the keys locks and unlocks the car, so what did i do wrong?

I would really appreciate any response. Please email me any responses to skorpiond@optonline.net

thanks

Dannye

The key transmits a code to the EWS module, so that it will start. If this code is not received, the car won't start. You may have damaged the key.
It's possible that initializing the key might work, it's worth a shot.
Check out this FAQ I wrote for the procedure..

what probably happened is that you removed the battery for longer than 10 seconds. Whenever you do this, the key loses it's coding. It then has to be re-initialized. So re-initialize it and you should be fine.
