97 528i radio

I have found 2 salvage cars with radios in them. I need to replace my crappy radio. Is there any problems I need to be aware of when putting a different radio in my car. ( alarm concerns )? What really sucks is that I will probably end up with the same problems with the radio out of these cars.

Skybeam, my radio has shorted out, keeps blowing fuses, did you have any luck changing your radio out? Any idea how to remove this radio? I would like to disconnect it and put a fuse back in to see if it's the radio or the wiring to it, but don't see how to get the radio out of the dash.

Look at the first page of the 5 series forum and I think you will find the bently manual that can be downloaded and search the radio removal section.
I bought the manuals for my car when I had to r&r the rack and pinion steering unit.
I have not tried to put a different radio in yet.
