95 540i not starting

Hi i am new here

I have 1995 540i and over the last week it rained heavely in the chigagoland area and the roads flooded
i was going to work one day and i went through some water like everyone else and everything was fine

the next day at school i come back to it after i was done with classes and it would not start not even anything no engine sound watsoever, i also have a 97 mb e300 and its battery runs down easily and i know how to fix it but with the BMW i tried to jump it with cables but nothing. DO you think its the Battery or the engine

Thank You

I think its a case of knackered batteries, lifetime of a batt 3-5 yrs, some last longer some dont, depends on your journeys & make of batt, short ones kill batts, I have to put my batt on charge every 4 weeks as I only do short journeys, the car sort of tells me by the rev counter starts jumping.

Changed mine 6 months ago for a new BMW one as the old one was 14 yrs old, so the better the maker the longer it will last.

Put the BM batt on charge for 24hrs and see what happens,OFF THE CAR, but make sure its fully charged.
