I did a search on the topic and apologize in advance if this has been asked. I recently purchased a '95 530i.
The car starts fine but there is a leak by the engine and I have an "Engine Oil Press" message thats displaying. I don't drive everyday but when I took it out on Sunday I noticed there was an accelaration issue where it was accelarating intermittently and the engine would stay idle. I parked the car, filled it with oil. The next morning I went to start it and it drove fine (around the corner).
Before I take it to be serviced (obviously) does anyone have an idea what could be the issue? The leaks are on the passenger side of the engine I notice the oil splatters to mostly.
Is possible to pinpoint the source of the oil leak? valve cover gasket will soak your spark plugs and if it is on the passenger side it may reach the exhaust=smoke/burning oil smell etc etc
