'94 Head Gasket Replacement - BMW Forum

Hi everyone,
Any input on removing the head? For instance, will I absolutely need the 3 tools mentioned in the Bentley manual such as the chain tensioner, flywheel lock, and camshaft holder? Has anyone every gotten by without using them? I'd hate to buy these tools for a one time job.
Any other advice wold be greatly appreciated.
