'94 525i sputters on take off then clears up

Hey Guys and Ladies! I'm new to the forum thing but had a few questions for you all. I recently purchased an mint condition 94 bmw 525i for a really good price, if i told u how much i paid for the 525i, u wouldn't believe me. Anyhow the problem is when taking off from a stand still, the car sputters' and then it clears up. I have changed a knock sensor, O2 sesnsor, cleaned the throttle body, changed the fuel filter, changed the plugs, and the coils that didn't have a strong spark enough spark for me. Now im puzzled because after changing the O2 sensor it cleared up for about a day then started back, so now I'm not sure what else to do at this point. Any help or opinions on what i should take a look at, or change would be very helpful.

Check your vacuum lines and intake boot for leaks, tears or cracks. A vacuum leak could cause this. Check your MAF too. If you unplug the MAF and the idle improves then your MAF is the problem.

Thanks I`'ll take a look at it this evening, if I`m correct the maf sits behind the air filter box, in the intake tube? Thanks for your help

I unplugged the maf and the idling when crazy, the only other thing I haven't checked is the icv, will a faulty icv cause the sputtering on take off? I'm not sure what I'm should check now

Lets start with possible trouble codes. You have a 94 so its OBD-I. Follow the link below to learn how to perform the "stomp test" and find out if you have any stored trouble codes.

Next, check your spark plugs and coil packs. Make sure the plugs are in good shape, if not replace them. When checking them look for oil in the plug well. If you replace them ensure that they are torqued down properly. Check the coil packs, as they can break down over time and cause loss of spark consistency. If they look damaged then replace them.

Then, if this all checks out fine and/or you still have the sputtering. Check your crank sensor. The resistance in ohms should be about 540. If the sensor is faulty the injectors won't fire properly.
