tomtomfill is an unknown quantity at this point
I intend to purchase the newest JVC Arsenal KD-AR560 head unit. It's black and has a mini aux input on the front. It matches the dash and I can plug in my ipod. I will purchase the wiring harness and hook into the factory harness. I am sure of myself when it comes to pro audio but I'm not really sure what's happening when it comes to car audio.
There will no doubt be RCA preamp plugs coming out the back of the head unit and this is where I get confused.
My assumption is that my factory head unit does not have power amp out since it is sending preamp signal to a bmw amplifier. Is this accurate?
1. Does the harness send preamp outs to the bmw amplifier or is it sending powered (amplified) outs to the bmw amplifier? In the latter, at least in professional audio, sending a power amp out to a power amp is never done. Is the harness I'm purchasing, in part, turning the RCA connectors to the bmw amplifier via the bmw harness?
2. I currently have my Pioneer CDR-M30, (?), CD changer in the trunk. It's coming out! What is the procedure for hooking up a powered sub in the trunk? Are there any wires in the trunk that make it convenient for hooking up the Infinity Bass link? Will I need to run a sub/pre out wire from the new head unit to the trunk? Do I need to run a fused powered cable from the battery to the powered sub? And what are those procedures?
Man I hope any of this makes sense.
