93 518i brake problem

i recently purchased a 1993 518i bmw. the previous owner said the brake pedal would go to the floor, and eventually you could not push the pedal down at all. brake pedal is rock hard, no abs light on. thorough examination of pedal assembly, master and booster revealed nothing. suspect the abs unit is not letting fluid pass. abs unit, bosch #0 265 200 062. anybody have any thoughts?

in case anyone was curious, indeed the abs unit was the problem. some sort of internal mechanical malfunction. not being able to locate another unit, i found that an abs unit from a 89 325 looked, at first glance, identicle. turns out the electrical portion was differant. in the end, i used the 325 abs unit and the electrical portion from the origional 518 unit. just a matter of splicing together the six wires to the solenoids. it works like a champ, no abs light, abs indeed functions properly after some careful test stops.
