well i knew very easily my belt came loose when i heard it squealing like crazy one morning, i tried to tighten it with the bolt and everything. well i come to find out the Alternator bracket that mounts onto the engine is screwed up badly, the teeth on there are almost all broken off . i also come to find out that my nut that has the teeth in it that makes it easy to raise the alternator up for tightening, those teeth are broken off, exept for a few. this is a 1985 BMW 528E, can anyone help me out on where i can find these parts because there are no real close part stores for me to get these and expet the junk yard, any online siteS? thanks!
You can tension the belt temporarily using a prybar/ lever, until you find the right parts. I may have an extra bolt at the shop, I will check and email ou tomorrow.
alrite thanks! the nut on there is so badly messed up, but yeah ima try to go to the junk yards tomorrow and see if they have one there. Lemme know! thanks
yeah i fixed my problem and got a new bracket, how tight does it need to be? is having it too tight relly bad for it?
