83 525e Oxygen sensor. Where? - BMW Forum

Hi all, this is my first post so heres to a long stay

I have been through the manuls, been on the net... well I cant seem to find where the oxygen sensor is on my 525e. First reg 1982. As I cant seem to find it anywhere Im wondering is it actually pos that this one doesnt have one fitted and if so how is the air valve sensor getting its readings to adjust fuel flow to the injectors?

What Im wanting to do is to be able to manually adjust the fuel flow through the injectors to lean it out as I need.

I have this car running on hydrogen/petrol mix. Awesome stuff but need to lean it out to adjust for the amount of hydrogen its running on.

Any ideas would be greatfull.

Also I am am told that the sunroof winder is the same as the 318 manual winder? Is this right?

All I can give you is a little logic from my motorcycling side. I find the O2 Sensors behind the headers at the collector. They never seem to be mounted at any individual exhaust port. Don't think you could miss it if it's there, because it will be the ONLY piece of kit sticking into the exhaust system from the collector backwards, with electrical wiring attached to it. Just a guess tho I'm sad to say.

the thingie with electrical wires that sticks out of the manifold or exhaust pipe... that is your oxygen sensor.

you can alter the fuelflow by changing the resistance values on the wires ;-)I

---you can't control the hydrogen by altering O2 sensor values. I'm sorry to say...

hydrogen has to be metered in a different way

Hey thanks guys. Yea ive checked everywhere but no sensor. Im told it HAS to be there but no ...it isnt.
Yes the hydro works great but that is controled seperately. Wanting to use the sensor to control the mix as you say Darkhorse. But if I have no ox sensor how do I control the mix? is my next q
