Still trying to make up my mind which 5 series to get, a 545i or 540i. I have found a couple of lowish k's (136K) 540i's and also a 2004 545i with 100,000 k's. Is the 545i going to give me less trouble than say a 2001 540i? Both have service records and seem to have been looked after.
You seem to all over the lot, dude. A 2001 540 is E39 styling... the 2004 545 is E60 styling. A world of difference. If you just want a 5 series, get the lowest mileage one you can afford and do your due diligence with service records, Carfax, mechanical inspection, etc.

I realize the styles are different! I want a V8. My question was about which car would likely have the least problems up around the 100,000 kilometer mark. And any other constructive information about the two cars in general.
