I have a 97 540iA. 147,000 miles on it. Recently I did a bunch of work on it. Mainly the valvecover gaskets and the upper timing chain covers. At the same time I did all this I put some new Bosch Platinum 2 spark plugs in. Since then I have been getting knock sensor errors. at first is was the number 3 sensor. I thought it may be just loose wires. SO i unplugged and plugged them in a couple of times. Reset the computer and now it is the number 2 knock sensor. Now when it went on this last time I actually heard the car ping right when the light went on.
Could all of my problems be do to the sparkplugs? or is it time to replace the knock sensors? Just to refrase another way. The light comes on and stays on. It doesn't flicker and then go out.
