540I E34 Wont Start

Howdy All,

First time poster on a car forum.

I have a 540i e34 which I love driving. Have been upgrading various components.

My 540i started running a bid odd with loss of power - seemed to start ok, but did not like a lot of throttle & eventually faded away to now not starting.

I tried "aerostart" & she fires up for short bursts.

This seems to be fuel related issue.?

Interested in thoughts from who ever cares to respond.

How about a look at the fuel pump(s) and filter?

I replaced the filters about 2 months back.

Will see if the fuel pump is working when trying to start.

G'day Whiteshark,

WRT the fuel pump I remember ready a few months back that "Goss" fuel pumps could be used instead of the genuine item.

Do you recall this.?

Has anybody done this change over.?

If the fuel pump is ok,try the airflow sensor,it is a common fault on 3 series,not sure about 5 series though,but this sounds like that fault.
