Okay it's official....I now know 23 people who have a 540i (internet/friends/family/teachers)! There must be something right going on with the previous 540i. To this date I have seen almost 100 of the same model. I'm wondering if my dad should replace his Civic with that. What do you guys think?
Well, My dad drives a minivan right now(Honda Odyssey) cuz he needs to pick-up/drop off 3 kids. My mom drives an E320 and we have a 2001 Civic that just sits in the garage. We only have it cuz sometimes we need to run little errands or park in tight spots and nothing beets a Civic at that. Anyways, my dad wants to replace it with a 540i cuz his bro, sis, nephew, cousin, and my mom's sister has one. They love their cars a lot! My dad likes the shape of the previous generation 540i and he will probably buy one this Spring or Summer. We're in no hurry cuz we have to get a SUPER LUX SEDAN for my mom first.
All we want is something Automatic, New or Used-Doesn't matter, Nav, Leather, and that's about it. We really don't need it right away. He was supposed to replace the Civic last year...but he got a little busy and decided to wait a while.
You're right the Bimmer will look cool! But I've gotta admit, the Civic is a really nice vehicle. It's better than the Corolla anyways.
Thanks for the replies..........
I owned a 95 Acura Legend LS. A wonderful car: power, great interior, all the ammenities, and one of the classier body styles. Last summer I was looking for another sedan for my new baby boy to ride in. Bought a 97 540I with 50000 miles. I DO NOT MISS THE ACURA. The BMW is the nicest (and quickest) sedan I have ridden in. It has it all. No regrets. It is not brand new and I am sure the newer ones are even nicer!!
I used to own a '98 Honda Accord. It had 72k kilometers on it. Wonderful car, really fun to drive and very dependable. Then sometime late last year I decided to take the Euro plunge. I said goodbye to my Honda for a '95 e34 525i which had 39k kilometers. I can't say I miss my Honda much after that.
While it needs more attention than the Honda, its attention that you're willing to give because you get so much back in return. It's got all the power you'll ever need in getting from A to B in one luxurious piece. It's got leather, it's got handling, it's got power ameneties (windows, side mirrors etc.) and its got that "cool factor" that the Honda will never be able to provide.
my mom has a 540 (was my dads but he gave to her bc he didnt liek the auto) and it is an awesome car i tell u. omg u never really feel ur in a big car, its so nice, and so responsive in steering, acceleration, and braking. in '95 dad bought an e34 to replace a '91 acura legend, 1 year before the e39, so back then it was the fastest, best handling sedan u can buy, now the e39 m5.
