working in my 2000 528i which has compression build in the expansion tank. It started with water pump bearing busted; followed by busted Pusher fan (Aux fan). I used the thermagasket previously and worked for about 1.5 yrs. This time I decided to remove the head and replace the headgasket. I have lossen the intake manifold but wanted to findout if anyone has a link to DIY, intake and exhaust manifold, trying to cut down on time and also if recommendation to replace the seals in the VANOS unit. Any feed back or recommendation greatly appreciated. Those links with pics would be great also. Thanks JR

You are just unlucky; it is indeed not a common problem. It may have has some serious engine and/or exhaust problems in the past; in short you got screwed if you just bought the vehicle.
