my dad will be getting one of these, he loves volvos and says that the 5 is "a rich man's car" (lol) but it costs less than the volvo new....

anyway which would be better? try not to be biased lol

it would be an E39 not an E60, 1.9% financing on all 3 cars avaliable so it will be dirt cheap

if your dad's not really into performance, then he should just look at price, but i'm sure anybody would appreciate the low end torque of the T6. its up to him, if i had to chose a car for my dad it would be the T6.

my friends are volvo people, theyve had a 850 T5, they replaced that with a S80 T6, there daughter has a S40, and they replaced there BMW 325Ci vert with a Volvo C70 Convertible. The S80 will be faster then the 530 (s80 does 0-60 in 6.8).....though id vote for the 530i, because its lighter, it looks nicer, its naturally aspirated, and it has a 5 speed automatic (vs the S80's 4spd).....and it handles a heck of a alot better, but if you he wants a lux sedan that is powerful, S80, if he wants a sports sedan, 530i (try to get the sport pacakage, that = PWNAGE!)

the S80 is cheap as hell because they're not selling though. you can probably get one for like $37,000. and the S60 R is coming out soon, i hear that's goin to cost $37,000

a fully eqiupeed S60 R will be about 40k. does 0-60 in 5.4 seconds, adjustable on the fly suspension that, with a press of a button, can be M3 stiff....6spd manuial, 235's all around, VERY nice car....

yeah, but the gearbox is all funky, have you seen it before? i don't like the S60 shifter.

speedster, you're too impressed with 0 to 60 times, they don't really mean much.

i use that to determine how fast the car is....a car mergine on the highway, sure wont do 0-60 in 5.4, but its a benchmark of performance.....its a comparison of power!

yeah, but try to clap your hands together twice really fast, 4/10th of a second is barely anything, it is so marginal that it isn't noticeable in daily driving, it all dpeneds on the launch. and they burn the clutch on the launch so the 5-60mph street start is a better judge. the STi can do 0 to 60 faster than the M3, but i'd rather have an M3.

STi will not out gun the M3 to 60, the EVO barely does it, and as ive proven, i can rape a EVO once were rolling...... B)

thats a company time (you can never trust them, look at bmw's 0-60 times)....in any case....my car does do 0-60 in 4.7 (tested my motortrend).....and the sti (tested by motortrend) does 0-60 in 4.8 or 4.9, the EVO does 0-60 in like 4.63
