Does anyone know which engines would be compatible with the electronics in my 1994 530i? Mine jumped time and if I can replace the engine with one from a 740 or 535 etc it would save me some money and give me a better selection to find a good used engine. Thanks for the help.
Found an engine today, alusil 530i engine with 107,000 miles on it, $600. The Parts recycler is holding it for me, now I just have to get the money together to get it, and get it installed. I would swap it out myself, but i don't have a lift, and my wife would not look kindly on me using the rafters in the garage. Thanks for the suggestions, I will add these sites to my list with bavauto.com
Well, back to the search. The engine that I found has an engine mount point broken off. If anyone has an alusil m30 engine for sale let me know. thx
what? the M30 is a straight 6 cylinder usually is a 3.4 or 3.5.....

sorry Alpinesixandseven, meant to say m60. the yard where I found the other engine is going to sell me an m60 4liter if they have an alusil one, and if all the connectors match up. Talked to a tech at Hendrick BMW in Charlotte today and he said it should work with no problems.
Found a 1995 740 engine, which is now in the car. The mechanic working on it had to change the intake manifold, a motor mount, and the water pump. Now I need new intake manifold gaskets and water pump gaskets to hopefully finish the job.
I know you guys are wondering why I did'nt do the swap myself, and I would have except that my homeowners assoc would have had a fit.
I will post some pics as soon as I get the car back on the road.
