530d Dies At 4k

hello to all,

my first post and my first problem,

Car: E39 530D 2001.

I just had my car speedo fixed as it had some problems with the display and some motors were playing up.

Now for some reason the car wont rev past 4k revs with foot full down. Sometimes this limit drops to 2k and car is a nightmare to drive.

i Have also had a starting problem once where car took like 9-10 attempts b4 it started.

Now the question is that, is the reving problem dash related or fuel system related?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Is it cold where you are? Your Diesel fuel might have gelled, I always put Anti-Gel in my Ford F-350 Diesel when the temps. are below 20F. If it's gelled you can hope the temps go up or get an emergency Diesel anti gel that goes right in the fuel bowl to thaw out the fuel. In the States we have a product by Power Service called 911 for that problem. Hope this helps you, Good Luck

its not that cold here,

i had a feeling it could be some sort of safe mode system, but then again it could be a problem somewhere
