Hello everyone, I have a problem maybe you can help with. My 528I (97) is equipted with a sunroof (not a moonroof) and the roof is now not poping up in the vent mode nor is the inner panel following the roof back and forth. In fact the roof will not function correctly at times and I have to mess with it to make the inner panel follow the movement of the roof. It seems as though they are both related to that inner panel. Is the panel affixed to the sliding roof panel? does the panel align with the front edge of the roof or does it stay about 2-3" back, what is creating this problem? I attempted to pull down the headliner to look see, but the head liner seems to be attatched to the hole with a panel surrounding the opening and I cannot get the roof back far enough to get to the rear screws. Any ideas?
Bruce
First with the ignition key on' hold the roof button for about 15-20 seconds. this will reset the sunroof (it is in your manual) and yes the interior panel closes all the way to a near perfect alignment. If you succeed in getting the roof to pop up (after the reset procedure above) you may have to push back on the interior panel just about 1/2 of the way. close and push forward on the panel this may clean/clear whatever is in its path assuming it is on track. afterward it will fuction normally.
