Hey guys Im new here. Have been a bmw fan for awhile. Thinking of purchasing a 1997-2000 bmw 528i. Was wondering how are these cars?? I am going to get one with about 100k-150k miles on it. How long can i expect this to last if I take good care, and will a lot of stuff start to go on the car. Thanks guys!
The only way I would get a car with that many miles is if I'm buying it from the original owner. Hopefully he has all records. It can get very expensive replacing wear and tear items (brakes/radiator/starter/alternator/etc).
The engine itself can last 250k+ based on what I have read in the past from other members.
Try to get as low mileage as possable b/c at 100k to 120k stuff starts to go bad ex. shocks, trailing arms, control arm bushings, water pump, a/c pump.
so just check the car over REALLY good. but the car should last 250k to 300k my 740 it at 146 k and still going strong... knock on wood

A friend just bought this car for 11k with taxes and everything in Orange County, CA. The car is in great shape! He wanted to buy mine but I told him I had already spent over 6k in upgrades & maintenance and didn't think I would sell it for under 15k. Mine is a 97 with 82k miles (540ia).
