I'm in the process of buying a 525i SE Touring (2001 facelift UK model).
I haven't been able to drive it as yet because some valet work is in the process of taking place. However, early next week I plan to test drive the car and seriously consider buying it.
The car comes with 42,000 miles on the clock (and with BMW dealer service stamps at approx 16,500 and 36,000 miles), climate control, ASC, Front and rear parking sensors, 8 air bags, leather interior, multi function wheel and what appears to be a relatively free from stone chip red metalic paint finish. On face value the car looks nice.
Being relatively aware of cars and car mechanics I am not afraid of poking around and checking things out. However, as with all models of cars, each has it's own characteristics and limitations.
I don't have much experience of BMW's so what I would like to find out is, from your experience, what are the most common causes of problems that I should check for prior to making a purchase?
Many thanks, in advance, for your replies.
