You can have GPS fitted at a BMW dealership but its going to be costly, a friend of mine did it to his 740i , basically all the seats ,carpets and half the dash have to be removed for all the wiring as the unit is fitted in the boot, so it depends how deep your pockets are really.
So hense them saying no, not just as simple as putting it on the idrive, if you had have said can you fit it as a retro they would have said yes with a big smile.

Honestly I think your better off with an aftermarket GPS. I think it will still get you to where you have to go for far less money. Honestly, I dont use my GPS much. I now know where all the McD. and 7-11's are in my area.
:-) You can do what my buddy does. He has aftermarket GPS and installs the unit where the screen is. Looks like its intergrated in the little window. Good luck.
